CHARITY MATCH 2024 – RESULT

Thanks to all who braved the elements and attended our annual charity fly fishing match at Loch Ochiltree on 25 August 2024.
The weather today, was at best, challenging, with waves similar to that on the nearby Irish Sea, and rain that just did not seem to ease up from the word go!
Nevertheless, 30 anglers donned their waterproofs and put their casting to the test against the gusting wind and rain.
Given the conditions, it is hardly surprising that the catch return is on the low side.
Despite the weather, there were plenty of missed chances, stories shared and laughter heard in what was ultimately an enjoyable day.
The fishing result was as follows;
30 anglers caught 21 fish.
1st – Scott Patterson – 3 fish for 7lb 9oz
2nd – Gerhard McLean – 3 fish for 7lb 1oz
3rd – Scott Costley – 3 fish for 6lb 6oz
Heaviest fish caught was – Scott Patterson – 6lb 1oz (however, due to match rules the prize was awarded to 2nd heaviest – 2lb 9oz – Gerhard McLean)
A well supported raffle was held following the weigh in, with some anglers leaving with Christmas presents sorted!!
Thank you to all anglers for attending and taking part today, and a big thanks to all who supported the event by way of monetary donation, tagged fish and raffle prize donations.
River Cree Hatchery & Habitat Trust SCIO will benefit massively from the proceeds of today’s event and we hope that the final figure gives the team plenty of assistance in achieving their goals!
If you wish to support the RCHHT through this event, you still have time, monetary donations are welcome and can be arranged via any committee member or messaging this page.
